SEAL BEACH, CA, February 24, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Women's Symposium of Southern California (WSSC) announced today the three winners for its 2021 Purple Diamond Award. This award recognizes women for significant achievement in the following areas.
• Empowering and Educating women
• Impact women's lives
• Active involvement in women's activities in the community
• Demonstrating leadership involving positive change for women
This year's nominees demonstrated outstanding qualities such as:
•Profession: Achievement and service from various professional or service fields.
•Influence: Influenced others through her involvement in the community, demonstrated the ability to influence society, reflecting values of WSSC excellence and community investment.
•Character: Possess a reputation for a good character, Integrity, Honesty, Compassion, Authenticity, Responsibility, Courage, Generosity & Optimism
•Leadership: Individual achievements and professional influence, having made such accomplishments while maintaining a gender parity perspective in life. This includes academic achievement, professional positions, charitable contributions, board service, and other forms of leadership.
Our Winners are:
• Trinka Rowsell - Executive Director at Partners of Parks (Long Beach)
• Shelly Horvath - Marketing Manager at Diversified Technical Systems
• Lee Ann Canaday Owner/Broker at Canaday Group & RE/MAX Fine Homes

The winners will be recognized by local Public Officials during the Virtual Symposium, held on March 5, 2021. This year also recognizes the 5th anniversary of the Women's Symposium of Southern California. Annually, the Symposium meets the Friday closest to International Women's Day to honor women leading and effecting change in gender inequality and STEAM careers. This year's theme is Focused, Flexible, Purposeful. The event is open to the public. The Purple Diamond Award offers both established and emerging female leaders the opportunity to celebrate personal and professional experiences.
Last year's Purple Diamond Award Winner, Leslie Boyer, will make a video appearance. Leslie shared a quote from Anne Frank in summary: "How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world."
This year's nominees were selected by a panel of judges and evaluated on their individual business communities' demonstrated ability, contributions to the community, and leadership qualities.

WSSC is a grassroots non-profit 501 (c) 3 public charity. Our mission and founding principles are to help women achieve financial literacy; enhance their self-confidence and improve their quality of life through everyday knowledge, best practices, and STEAM education.
WSSC provides a forum for educators, financial professionals, and STEAM professionals to deliver knowledge and resources to the community. We bring the expertise and success stories of competent and motivational professionals from all fields and careers together in a symposium format at an annual event held on the Friday afternoon near International Women's Day (IWD) which is March 8th annually.
